How to Improve Leg and Hip Strength, and Increase Stamina? | Ask A Trainer | LA Fitness

Welcome back to another episode of ‘Ask A Trainer’, I’m your host Candice Currie, joined here today with LA Fitness Master Trainer, Stone Thomas. How you doing? So, today we have a question from David P., who shares that his new job requires him to stand for long periods of time, so he’s looking for specific machines to help him with leg and hip strengthening along with increasing his stamina. Stamina and strengthening is going to be incredibly important. With LA Fitness we can utilize a lot of the free weights, machines, like leg press, different squat variations, to hit that compound movement so you can target all the major muscles in your lower extremity. In regard to stamina, any cardiovascular machines, classes that we offer, like Zumba®, cycling classes, are going to help with the stamina. One of my favorite classes for my clients are the cycle classes. So, it’s low impact, again, for the knees, and it’s going to really push you. So, you’re going to be burning body fat and you’re really going to be working on that leg endurance. We also have other machines like ellipticals, treadmills, StairMasters®, a variety in diversity for the cardio machines are going to give you the best results. If you are standing for long periods of the day though, you do want to make sure you’re wearing proper shoes so you have support, so you don’t have any imbalances, any arches that are going to potentially jeopardize the knee. Right, that makes sense. Well, congratulations on your new job, David. We hope that helps you out. Go ahead and email us your fitness related questions to [email protected] and we’ll see you next time!
